Historical context and birth of the company

The history of the Pompilj family began at the beginning of the 16th century in the heart of Umbria, in the small village of Villa Macciano, in a hilly area that is located in the center of an ideal triangle drawn between Todi, Spoleto and Assisi.

Here beats the millennial heart of the Macciano olive tree, the best representation of the local culture, tradition and spirituality. Clinging to his trunk, you can feel all the energy of his embrace.

The management of the Family lands is today entrusted to Claudia Pompilj who follows all stages of production with professionalism and tenacity.

“… I know well that if my father is my past and my son my future, I am the present.
In the two faces of two-faced Janus, I saw the essential symbol of my idea, the ideal logo for this new enterprise that I wanted to call “Gold of Janus”.

The property boasts 160 hectares of land, of which 10 are in the hills occupied by olive trees.

The San Felice, Moraiolo, Frantoio and Leccino olives are harvested in the right degree of ripeness and processed immediately with modern continuous cycle extraction systems.

The resulting extra virgin olive oil is bottled and stored at a controlled temperature to ensure the freshness of the aromas and the intensity of the taste.

On the occasion of the event “Let’s get to know: Claudia Pompilj presents Oro di Giano” on September 16, 2020, the selected oils were tasted, and told to those present, directly by Claudia along with other products of her beloved Umbrian land.
