Molino’7Cento

Region: Lazio

Business name: Azienda agricola Molino ‘7 Cento

Location: Sant’Angelo – Cori (Latina)

Historical context and birth of the company

Molino 7Cento rises on the slopes of the last offshoot of the Lepini Mountains, in a town with about 3300 years of history, Cori.
Cori dominates the Pontine Plain below, with a view that reaches as far as the Tyrrhenian Sea. In ancient times it was called Còra, or Còre in the archaic Corese dialect.
Recent archaeological discoveries have revealed the stable presence of a settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. The first historical sources include Cora among the oldest of the Prisci Latini.
In Virgil’s Aeneid there is a quotation from Cora.
When Vito Miceli, an entrepreneur from Latina and owner of the Hotel Miramare di Capoportiere, saw for the first time the announcement of the sale of an old 18th century mill in Cori, a glance with the google earth application was enough for him to understand that that old building with seven hectares of land, all vineyards and with some olive trees, was the ideal place to realize his great dream: to found a farm and experience nature; and he did it very well together with his brother Giuseppe.
The ruins of the past are now the beating heart of a 22-hectare organic farm that produces wine, oil, saffron and vegetables, managed by a team of passionate and competent young people led by Giovanna Cunetta, director of the company.

Oliocentrica was the first oil shop to welcome and tell the productions of this young Pontine company and continues to do so by proudly observing its growth and affirmation in the world of quality extra virgin oils with national and international recognition.

“We want to be the place where it is still possible to produce and offer healthy, genuine products, without chemical pesticides and without interfering with normal natural cycles.”
Giuseppe e Vito Miceli

Technical contents

The extra virgin olive oil is produced exclusively from the fruit of the olive groves owned by the company, about 4 hectares. The 1,600 olive trees, some of which are more than 100 years old, are located at about 220 meters above sea level and are mostly of the itrana variety, including leccino, frantoio, carboncella.
The harvest is manual and takes place at the beginning of the veraison of the fruit, the passage to the mill is immediate.
The non-proprietary continuous cycle crusher uses Alfa Laval technology.
The result is an extra virgin olive oil with a clean and enveloping nose, rich in fruity hints of medium-ripe tomato (Itrana), almond and cut grass (Leccino) flanked by ample balsamic notes of aromatic herbs and a balanced bitter and spicy and elegant.
