MASSERIA RAINO
Region: Lazio
Company name: Azienda Livio Ialongo Sas
Location: Itri (Latina)
Historical context and birth of the company
The Masseria is located in Contrada Raino, in the municipality of Itri, in the province of Latina, between the Aurunci mountains and the sea of Gaeta and Sperlonga.
On the slopes of Mount Civita, the area is known for its famous and ancient Marian sanctuary.
The name of the itrana cultivar derives from the production area, famous for its dual vocation: it is in fact suitable for brine, but from it an oil is also obtained that offers scents of remarkable freshness centered on the tones of thistle and green tomato.
The Raino company was established in 2012 but has ancient origins, its plant is centuries old and is owned by a family that has been growing olive groves and producing oil for many generations.
Oliocentrica was the first to promote the Raino project in the area, presenting it both in the shop (Evo, the pleasure of knowing him) and at the Masseria.
Small note on the label
The desire to promote the rich Pontine territory, in its multiple cultural aspects, has prompted the company to place fragments of a work by Antonio Agresti on the label because in the work of this artist he has glimpsed his own desire to recover consolidated traditions but also the desire for care and respect for the Earth.
Antonio Agresti, who signs himself AGRE, has Italian origins, he grew up in Naples where he graduated in Architecture.
“The ancient roots of the company give stability and strength to the present, we could not think of proceeding on new roads without turning our thoughts to those who gave them this land or to the hard and joyful efforts of their workers and their loved ones.”
Loredana Ciccarelli
