Maurizio Pescari presents “Oil and other ingredients of our life”
Maurizio Pescari presents his book at Oliocentrica: “Oil and the other ingredients of our life”
During an early summer evening
To frame this meeting, strongly desired by Oliocentrica, there is an orange sunset, a light breeze, the evening lights that claim their role.
Few background noises, a few ambulances asking for directions, the last cars returning home.
Maurizio Pescari, journalist and writer, is the authoritative signature of the information dedicated to the culture of oil and olive growing.
To frame this meeting, strongly desired by Oliocentrica, there is an orange sunset, a light breeze, the evening lights that claim their role.
Few background noises, a few ambulances asking for directions, the last cars returning home.
Maurizio Pescari (*) lets the others speak, observes the bystanders with his sly gaze, but the embers in his eyes can be seen and felt.
When it starts it is a river in flood, unstoppable, it gives you no escape, you cannot help but listen to it.
If it were a football team it would be Torino.
Few frills, lots of heart, lots of lungs.
Every now and then the big game,
Like a joke you don’t expect.
A book, that of Maurizio, in an obstinate and opposite direction. Talk about oil without talking about oil. No perfume, no scent but an encounter with other men, other women. Unconventional breakfasts and very simple recipes that bring the essence of Italian peasant cuisine. Basil, garlic, tuna and crusty bread. Under a pergola or with a breathtaking view of a sea that is not that of the suntan cream, of reggaeton. Among the pages of the book, time expands, precious minutes multiply. Suddenly, without ever having written about it, the aromas, the bitter, the spicy arrive.
At the end of the evening we shake hands, we promise another meeting as we would with an old friend.
The city is silent.
Lucky who has been with us, with him.
